Merit Tutoring operates on a fortnightly subscription basis:
There are no lock-in contracts or minimum commitment periods. You can cancel at any time.
We accept payment via major credit cards, debit cards, and other methods through our secure payment processor (Stripe). All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST where applicable.
All new students are entitled to a 7-day free trial to experience our services before committing to a paid subscription.

Refunds are not provided when a student chooses not to attend scheduled sessions. This includes:

Occasionally, a scheduled tutor may be unavailable due to illness or other circumstances. Here's how we handle these situations:
If a session needs to be cancelled or rescheduled due to tutor unavailability:
In the unlikely event that tutor unavailability affects multiple sessions:
If you subscribed using a discount code, promotional offer, or special pricing:
You subscribed to the Guided Mastery plan ($58/fortnight) with a 20% discount, paying $46.40.
If you're eligible for a full refund for that billing period, you will receive $46.40 (the amount you paid), not $58.
Service credits issued in relation to promotional subscriptions are calculated based on the discounted rate.

Here are some common situations and how our refund policy applies:
Situation: You signed up for a free trial but decided the service isn't right for your family.
โ Cancel before the trial ends and you will not be charged. No refund needed as no payment was taken.
Situation: You've been charged for your first billing period and now want to cancel.
โ You can cancel anytime. Your access continues until the end of the billing period you've paid for. No refund for the current period (services are available), but no future charges.
Situation: Your child has an extended illness and will miss multiple sessions.
โ Contact us with a medical certificate. We can offer a pause on your subscription or a pro-rata refund/credit for the missed period.
Situation: Your family is going away for 2 weeks.
โ Request a pause on your subscription (up to 4 weeks). You won't be charged during the pause, and your subscription resumes automatically when you return.
Situation: The tutor is sick and your child's session is cancelled.
โ We'll first try to arrange a replacement tutor. If not available, we'll offer a makeup session. If neither is possible, you'll receive a service credit.
Situation: You notice you've been charged twice for the same billing period.
โ Contact us immediately. We'll verify the duplicate charge and issue a full refund for the erroneous payment within 5-7 business days.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind after the free trial?
After the free trial, refunds are not provided for change of mind. However, you can cancel anytime to stop future charges, and you'll retain access until the end of your current billing period.
How long do refunds take to process?
We process approved refunds within 5-7 business days. Depending on your bank, it may take an additional 3-5 business days to appear in your account.
Can I get a refund for sessions my child missed?
Refunds are not provided for sessions voluntarily missed by students. However, we may be able to offer makeup sessions where available. If your child will miss multiple sessions, consider pausing your subscription.
Do service credits expire?
No, service credits do not expire. They can be used at any time and are automatically applied to your next billing cycle.
Can I transfer my subscription to another child?
Subscriptions are for individual students and cannot be transferred. If you need to enrol a different child, please contact us to cancel the current subscription and start a new one.
What if I'm not satisfied with the service?
We want you to be happy with our services. If you have concerns, please contact us firstโwe'll do our best to address them. If issues persist, you can cancel at any time with no penalty.
Can I choose between a refund and account credit?
Yes, when eligible for a refund, you can choose to receive it via your original payment method or as account credit (which never expires).
